Experiencing problems with fonts displaying incorrectly, or even worse crashing your applications? Then maybe it’s time to clear your system’s font caches!
When you activate a font, Mac OS X caches the font to speed the display of text on screen. Font caches generally work well but over a period of time these caches can become corrupt and cause strange oddities such as: jumbled text, text reflow problems, print problems, or even application crashes.
FontNuke is a free Mac OS X utility that can remedy some of the above-mentioned problems.
Using FontNuke is easy. Simply quit all open applications, open FontNuke, click the “Nuke Font Caches” button, then click “Update Cache List”, and lastly click the “Nuke Font Caches” button. That’s it!
