Amongst all the new features in iOS 10, there are some that are less publicised than others.
One of these lesser known features is the ability to have your iOS device announce who’s calling when receiving a phone call based on the caller ID, and depending on that, your device will speak the name of the caller. If the number isn’t in your contacts it tell’s you it’s an unknown caller.
To set this up, launch the Settings app then navigate to the Phone tab (FaceTime on your iPad), then tap on Announce Calls. From here you can specify which conditions you want the announcements to happen.
This feature is handy when you are in the car on handsfree or walking with your headphones on and can’t reach your phone.
