Instead of hunting round each System Preference pane separately to see what can be added to the main menu bar, there is a magic folder nested within your System folder that contains a collection of Menu Bar items.
Some of these can be toggled by a checkbox in System Preference panes, but some are extras!
To access these, navigate to: /System/Library/CoreServices folder.
This is where Apple store most of the Operating System magic! From here, open the Menu Extras folder.
Here you’ll find a collection of Menu Bar items:
Just double-click on any of these to install them into your main menu bar at the top right of your display screen.
For years I used the ‘Eject.menu’ as a handy way of ejecting an optical disc without having to use the Eject key on the keyboard or having to select the mounted optical disc in the Finder and choosing to Eject it.
To remove any menu bar item, hold down the Command (cmd) key and then drag the menu bar icon off the menu bar into a puff of smoke, similar to removing a Dock item.
